BASIC GUIDELINES FOR CURRICULUM CONSTRUCTION Educationally, within the bounds of our freedom one can grow citizens for a democracy only if provide experiences that create the types of personality a democracy needs. Physical education teachers should translate the nature and meaning of citizenship into teaching procedures, so that better citizens will result. Starting with the nursery school and ending with the high school, illustrate the principles of continuity and sequence in a physical education curriculum with respect to these particular and important skills of sports and games. With these skills in view, outline specific activities with the progression in mind for each grade level from the nursery school to the twelfth grade. Obviously must agree with another adage “Experience is the best teacher”.
